Has your little girl met the stud before? I hope she likes him-if she doesn't, she will refuse to let him near her. While this is getting sorted out, you need to think about where she will have her babies. I use a medium size kennel. I put a faux sheep skin kennel pad in it and drape a thick blanket over the top of it , so all light is blocked out. If there is any light at all or too much noise, the mama will try and move the pups. I hope your stud is small because the mama will need help getting the pups past her hips. Right after she has the pups, you'll want to feed either store-bought puppy food or roast a whole chicken, mix it with cooked rice and chicken broth. The second one is what we do. It keeps mama in good milk production while giving her lots of protein. It's pretty healthy and I don't have to worry about additived that will make her sick. We feed it as a supplement to the Beneful dry food. We aslo give them some yogurt to help the good bacteria in their guts re-populate. It is labor intensive but well worth the rewards. Remember to handle the babies every day, several times, to socialize them. You don't need to wait till they open their eyes-the sooner you start handling them the better it will be.
