Title: Hello from Alaska!

Blog Entry: Hello everybody! Hope your holidays were everything you hoped they would be! It's cold and snowy here-9 degrees farenheit, in fact! The wind is blowing and that makes it colder. The trade off is we have sunshine and blue sky. We are starting to gain daylight again and I am so happy-to me, heading for Spring/Summer makes me very happy! Having 4 Chi's is awesome, although Clyde is afraid to go down stairs. He's learned to get down off the bed using the box like the other Chi's do. He can get back up, too. Guess I will have to try and lure him down with a hotdog or something. I have high hopes that this will work. I started out hoping he would come down because we were all down there-not! Time will tell..... On another note, Minnie seems to be accepting Clyde-she grooms him and plays with him. I intepret that to mean she'll allow him to breed her (I'm being very optimistic). Wrinkles is doing well-she looks like a little horse because her legs are so long. She is incredibly intelligent and grows more so each day. She has mastered the stairs, up and down, along with learning how to turn up her "cute" meter. Her mom, Wee, seems to have bouts of jealousy. I'm thinking Wee might be coming into heat and that's why she's cranky.....we'll see. On a sad note, the chocolate brother in our litter died from Parvo. He was at his new home and doing well when out of the blue, I got a phone call telling me he had Parvo and they were putting him down. Extreme sadness overcame me, but they called me too late. The next day, they told me they couldn't bear to put him down and they were giving him water by dropper.....I told them they should have called me earlier. I have brought several litters through Parvo and they lived to enjoy their doggy lives. The sick pups need Pedialyte injected under their skins so they stay hydrated. Off they went to get the stuff but while they were gone, he died. My Wrinkles consoles me quite alot when I think of her brother. Anyhow, I hope that 2010 is better then 2009. My continual hopes are that each progressive year is better than the one before.    May the economy recover, there be enough food to feed everyone and we refresh our spirits so we can put one foot in front of the other as we live our lives. I am fortunate to be employed and to be with the one I love. I feel renewed hope for the coming year and hope all of you understand how much I appreciate your kind words and enjoy this community as a whole. XXXOOO, Dana and the Clan!
