Bella has liver disease
Posted On 05/21/2009 23:43:55 by mkbeautybee

Bella has been throwing up at least once a week for a while now. We finally took her to the vet because it wasn't going away. Our vet ran some tests and found that she has liver disease. We were then referred to a specialist for an ultrasound. We went there today. The specialist said he was looking for a stunt, which he didn't find, but he found all indications that the problem was there. We were given a perscription food and told to have the liver test run again in a month. If we get the same results he will recomend surgery.

Before today I said I couldn't spend more than $1000 on her but now my thoughts are different. It has been a long couple of weeks and todays news completely drained me. Bella is my daughter in every since. If this were an actual child there would never be a second thought so that is why I feel fine putting surgery on credit (if need be). So, for all those people out there that don't understand spending a lot on "a dog" , well, I don't care what they think.

I am truely heart broken and praying all goes well. I am hoping that if surgery is necessary that will be all that is needed and nothing goes wrong. I am trying to keep my spirits up but the unknown scares me.

I haven't been on here in a few weeks (a little pre-occupied) but it hit me that this is the perfect place to vent! I know out of anyone you all will understand so please say a prayer for my Bella. We haven't had her a year yet, and she is barely a year old.....I just need everything to be okay.  I am sick with worry for her.....

Thanks for all your well wishes! We are just taking it day by day. All I can really do is hope for the best and enjoy every minute with her! Even though I have Cooper, I would be lost without my Bella....so no matter what it takes we will do it! I just hate to hear that anything is wrong with one of my babies!

I had a similar scare with my Lily when she was less than a year too. Everything turned out fine, but we never did figure out what her problem was. We had to take her to an emergency vet on a Sunday night...2x. Talk about $$$$! Her regualr vet ran tests and nothing was conclusive and then she was fine and has been ever since. I undestand the money thing. It's tough.

Good luck! I hope she ends up being just fine!

Don't you pay any attention to those people throwing stones....you are the one who has to live with the decisions you make, not them....We feel the same about our babies, and we live with our choices. Take a deep breath and put one foot in front of the other. One step at a time, one day at a time. Try not to be too upset because she is ill; rather, enjoy every minute you have together. Our hopes are with you.

I'm so sorry! You're taking the right steps now to get Bella back to health. I hope the diet helps and that surgery is put off. You're in our thoughts.
