not sure if this should be here or in health, but here goes.  Rowdy is 12 weeks old today and I would like to know when I should expect his ears to stand?  The only other chihuahua I ever owned was a mix and her ears stood by 6 weeks.  How much time before I need to worry?  Is there anything I can do to help them out?

Hi there,.. I wouldn't worry about it. It varies from chi to chi. His ears should stand up by 6 months old. If not, chances are it will never stand up. But, don't worry if they don't. It's not a healthy issue if its not up. It'll just make your chi looking unique. If you're still worried, consult with your vet and see what they have to say. I've heard that the use of scotch tape, or like one of them white bandage tape to help hold their ears up.

My Chihuahua's ears were up when I got him at 12 weeks. A couple of weeks later both of them went down and since then they've taken turns with which one stands up. He's 5 1/2 months old and I'm really hoping that they'll both come up and stay up! I really don't like the flop eared look and especially not with each ear doing something different!

I read on the Chihuahua Club of America's website that adding vitamin C to their diet can help. Here's the link (scroll all the way down to the last paragraph):

Should I just divide down the dosage for him then?  He only weighs a pound or just a bit more.

Yeah, I would divide down the dosage and maybe check with your vet to see if Rowdy is too young and/or if he recommends it.

I didn't think Butterscotch's ears would ever stand.  One day one would stand and then the next day the other one would but now she is 13 months old they both stand unless she gets upset around another dog and they will both fall down.  My Tojo, only one of his ears stand up.  The other one always lays down, that is due to his sickness because they have always been like that.   They will stand in time.  Every chi I have ever been around there ears will usually stand all the time by 1 year old, that is just what I have seen.

I was comparing pics of him yesterday and his ears are farther up now than when I got him a few weeks ago.  I think I might give him some more time before I worry myself sick!

I spoke to the woman I got Tish from and she said Tish's father's ears didn't even start to stand until he was 6 months old.  Tish is 7 weeks now and hers are about half way there.  I wasn't sure, myuself, what to expect so I am happy to have someone have the sense to ask.....it gave me some answers too.  lol  Thank you!
