Because the boots I made for Peanut turned out so good, I wanted to share them with everyone.  I found directions/pattern here:

http://domestikgoddess.com/sew-your-own-winter-dog-boots/

Here's a picture of the ones I made for Peanut:

Some tips.....

I used fleece, marine vinyl, 1/4" wide elastic, and sew on velcro squares.

Right now the fleece and the vinyl are on sale for 1/2 off at Joann's.  Wanna get them for free?  Joann's will give you a sample for free (6" or less).  Trust me, that's way more than you'll need for a set of boots, even for a BIG dog.  You'll have enough to make some for all your friends, too!

For the vinyl, get the stuff that's got some texture and is more rubbery feeling.  Some felt slicker - I would be afraid it would slip on ice or snow.

The elastic cost 39 cents a yard for the bulk stuff that they'll cut for you at the fabric counter.  1/2 a yard is plenty.  I used about 3 1/2 to 4 inches of elastic for each boot.

The velcro was the most expensive thing I bought - $1.50-ish for a set of 3.  You'll need 2 of those - cut each one in half.. one half of a square for each boot.  (Note... one square consists of a square of fuzzy and a square of hooks)

For the pattern... I made it so that it was around 2 1/2 inches wide side to side.  That gave me room for the seams and it was up big enough so the finished boots would slip onto his paws.

Oh.... you'll also find some good, detailed instructions on how to train your doggie to wear the boots once you've made them.  Peanut and I are working on that!  ;)  No more will poor Peanut cry because it's 10 below zero and he's doing his business outside in his bare paws!
