My chi licks everything. After he licks he starts popping his mouth as if something is in there. I try to keep a very close eye on him. Is this normal? Am I just being way to over protective watching his every move? I got him from a lady who did not take care of him at all. He was outside year round and only used for breeding. He was in a 3x3 pen. I brought him home, no problems, until one of his teeth cracked. We took him to the vet and they pulled it , along with 3 other teeth that were bad. After they pulled those teeth, that is when the licking started. Sometimes he just sits and looks up at the ceiling licking his nose over and over again. He also has alot of reverse sneezing. He can not eat dry foods at all. PLEASE HELP !!!!

It sounds like it could be a psychological issue. The poor dog has been through so much and a lot of times puppy mill rescues have pyschological scars from the abuse and trauma they went through. I'll find some articles to post for you...living with a puppy mill survivor. You did an amazing thing by taking him in and giving him love, a safe, warm home and a real life after the hell he was in.

Biting is normal but Licking I think is not. Maybe he got his behavior from his former owner. The past history of the dog is factor to answer that question.
