on the market for a new food for your pup or adult chi ? then your at where I was 3 months ago... my pup was on royal canin when I first got him 3 months ago and I thought it was a good food but then I started to do research on dog food and learned quite a bit, as far as it goes about grocery store food, point blank don't buy it!!!! when it comes to dog food you get what you pay for ! but that doesn't mean go out and buy the most expensive food out their....so before I made the switch I googled and asked around and found alot and learned alot....its disgusting what some company's put in their dog food, so when choosing a new food check the label! when it comes to label's the first ingrediants are the heaviest and have the most neutritional value so always look for meat or meat meal never (corn or meat by-products) when it comes to corn think about it when we (humans) eat it what happens? it always comes out whole most of the time, the reason is becuase corn is not easily digestable and for dogs their digestive tracks are more sensitive. and as for meat by-products would you eat a tung or a lung ??? no right? so why would you feed it to someone you love....so basically what i'm saying is do research on your chi's food! try this website (dogfoodanalysis.com) and see what your chi's food rates and a food that I highly recommend is wellness! my chi loves it and his coat and skin have never been better!

In a perfect world, every dog would have a home and every home would have a dog.

Im new, and i have an 8month old chi, her names is lavender. I went to the Petco, and of coarse the people their tied to sell me ithink nautural food for dogs. but when another person saw me with it.. She told me she has 8 chi's at home and Pedgere was the best, for their coat, and its all meat. I would love to know if anyone has any suggestions on something else. i got both hard food for puppies, and a can of soft food, i usuallymix them together, small serving since she doesnt eat lot, and I also warm it up. lol she loves it when its warm.

Thanks, Lavender mommie

I have done a ton of research on dogfood. I use Natures Variety Prairie Dog Food Kibble and soft food. NaturesVariety also has a grain free food so your dog could eat less and still get thesame nutrients. They also sell a raw food, but I have 5 dogs and can't affordit. My dogs love the Prairie; the kibble is very small too which is great formy Chihuahua’s. Here is the site: http://www.naturesvariety.com/
Some other great brands are:

I got Orijen for Taishan- since its grain free and all protein, (our vet said her diet is ideally 1/3 carbs), I add a little oatmeal, rice, or pasta. She loves it that way

My pets eat Pedigree dog food since they were little. I tried different brands that are more expensive but they just don't like it and they refuse to eat. I love my dogs and i want the best but when it comes to dogfood I choose what they like for they might die of starvation when i choose the best. :)

My 3  chihuahuas  are my life... <3
