hey there.. I've had toy dogs before.. a poodle when I was a child was my best friend for a lot of years. We've also had Schnauzers, shepherd mixes..and lots of guys that came from adoption centers. In fact, I ran a rat rescue for almost 10 years..so adoptapets are my favorites. A friend came by a few weeks ago and saw our 4 cats, 2 chinchillas, (we now have 3), and couple dozen rats...and asked us to be parents to their doggy-girl's pup. We take him in just a three more weeks. So this "giftmas", we gave each other lots of "how do you care for new baby" things. My hubby never had a pet in his life before me..er..yeah.. and now he's a zoo keeper.

Our new boy is named Monty, after jazz pianist Monty Alexander, (all our cats are named for jazz musicians, too because my husband plays professionally.) We're puppy prepping the house and training the kitties to ..well..they're pretty mellow so we're training them not to sleep on the puppy. He's come over to visit them so they're all used to each other during move-in day. They think he's another chinnie or ratty.
