Hi, I have a 2.5 lb chihuahua male that is almost 7 years old. I rescues a female that is 3.5 lbs and 2 years old from an abusive home. Chloe was very scared of all of us, especially my husband, but after a few days, she felt safe and secure. I was told she had a litter of pups that went smoothly, and was not due to go into heat until December, so I thought I had a little time before getting her sprayed. Needless to say, the dogs tied together several times. We did not know she was in heat, as she really kept herself clean. Her due date, from the first time she tied with my male is September 7th.

Being as she is small, (she is not narrow at the hips, she is wide) will she go into labor early? Her tummy has really grown in the last few days, and is very noticeable. I have been giving her puppy chow, and a little meat and eggs (in small amounts). I am just so nervous! I have never breed a dog before, nor was this my intention to do so. I will say that I am excited about the pups!

I have been reading and watching everything I can about whelping puppies. I have spoken to Chole's vet that saw her after delivering her first litter, and he said she had no complications, took care of her pups with ease. She had no difficulty during delivery (and the stud was 2lbs larger than she was). Any advice would be great! I am worried something may happen to Chloe, even though I have only had her for a few months, I am in love with her, she is my baby!

I just want to say that you had no reasons for worry, i think everything will be ok. I know how it is, i had six litters from my two girls...:) And be trust in your vet!
