How to determine if my chihuahua is ready for stud? can anyone give me basic guide to chihuahua hitting coz it's my first time to have chihuahua. My chihuahua is a 1 yr 2 mos female and "virgin". We tried to stud her about 10 days after her period and it seems difficult, she don't want the male to stud her. Thanks in advance.

When she is ready to breed she will turn around and flag her tail to the side and accept him. My female did not breed until day 14,15 and 16....from the onset of her heat. You may have to hold her after they tie to keep her from getting too upset and pulling the male around.

Great topic.  Frida's first heat ended about 2 weeks ago and she is one year old today.  She did everything but give Chuy and instruction manual on how to mate.  We tried to hold them but just scared them I think.  Now, Chuy is about 9 yrs. old and we want a puppy with his bloodline.  We hope we didn't wait too long.

So here's the thing...her teets are swelling as is her belly and she's so much more "cuddly" than ever.  She doesn't want to eat sometimes, etc.  I think she may be pregnant, but not sure about false pregnancy.  Do false pregnancies usually occur in such a young chi?  Or does that happen to chis that are a little older?

Of course in a couple of weeks if this keeps up, we will get her in for an xray, just looking for some sage advice!  LOL!  Thanks - Carrie Rojo
