So I took my girls for vaccines today and got all the way home when I looked over at Bella who's face and feet had swelled up on the car ride home. I took her back and she was given shots, stayed for a couple of hours to be watched, and sent home with medicine. Like my Bella hasn't given me enough scares lately?! Plus, the same thing happened to Cooper a couple years ago and both experiences were very scary! I cried the whole way to my vet's office! Luckily she is fine, but a scare I could have lived without!

Bella had surgery on Monday, July 6th. It went well, but she didn't have the shunt that they were looking for. They took a biopsy of her liver and the results came back yesterday. She has Hypatic Micro Vascular Dysplasia (I would explain but looking it up on Google would be much easier!). The vet said she should be fine! She doesn't require any medication, we just have to keep her on a special food. We are very happy to hear that she will be okay. I'm not sure what the future holds for Bella but for now she should live a normal life! Her recovery is going well. She can't run or jump for two weeks. The poor girl is stuck in a kennel when we aren't here or on a leash by our side when we are. I have to say that I feel like someone who's baby just learned how to walk beause I have to watch her every move! I am a little tired of not doing much but I know it is all worth it! I ordered the Twilight books so I am going to start reading those tonight so that should keep me occupied! The only problem we had was that she wasn't eating after her surgery. After a few days of barely getting much food in her we called the vet and he had us take her off her pain medication (which he said is really only neccesary for the first few days anyway). Other than that, she is fine! Thanks so much for all your well wishes! I will continue to keep you updated when we know more! For now, though, I am hoping for a little less excitement! -Amanda

We finally took Bella for her second liver test and of course there was no change. We have scheduled a consult with the surgeon on Monday and her surgery will either be that day or on Tuesday. Luckily, I ran into a friend on Facebook that works for a vet and she told me that surgery was the best option and calmed my nerves a little. Unfortunatly, I am a mother and I will worry until the minute its over and I have her back in my arms safe and healthy! So, my goal for the upcoming weekend is to relax and try not to stress! I'm prayig for great results and a speedy recovery! Thanks for your well wishes from my last blog....please keep us in your prayers!

My husband Mike went to the garage for 30 minutes and was welcomed back to the house with garbage! I'll explain: Wednesday, Mike walked into the house to find garbage all over our house. In 30 minutes our two chihuahuas managed to tear the bag open and spread the contents in the kitchen, living room and hallway. They ate so much 'stuff" (not just food) that it was necessary to take them to the vet. They both were then given something that made them throw up over and over again until the xrays showed all/most of it was gone. I was at work but Mike got to watch this and I have to say that he enjoyed this because I think he wanted to kill them for turning our house into a trash can! The vet says we can't blame them because there was the packing left over from the chicken we made the night before and apparently the smell of chicken is like crack to dogs (not that she didn't admit that she might want to kill her dog for doing the same thing)! Either way, neither of us were happy of their accomplishment! And of course none of this was cheap! Plus, I was really hoping to take Bella the following day to have her liver tests redone, but that has to wait a week because what they did would throw the tests off.....yippe! Seriously could kill my kiddos but as my husband said 'if bella didn't do the cute things she does she would have been dead, but luckily for her she's too cute'! I had a friend tell me that when I actually have real babies I should be ready for all the health issues I've had with my chis! They usually are very good but accasionally they are a little troublesome!

Bella has been throwing up at least once a week for a while now. We finally took her to the vet because it wasn't going away. Our vet ran some tests and found that she has liver disease. We were then referred to a specialist for an ultrasound. We went there today. The specialist said he was looking for a stunt, which he didn't find, but he found all indications that the problem was there. We were given a perscription food and told to have the liver test run again in a month. If we get the same results he will recomend surgery. Before today I said I couldn't spend more than $1000 on her but now my thoughts are different. It has been a long couple of weeks and todays news completely drained me. Bella is my daughter in every since. If this were an actual child there would never be a second thought so that is why I feel fine putting surgery on credit (if need be). So, for all those people out there that don't understand spending a lot on "a dog" , well, I don't care what they think. I am truely heart broken and praying all goes well. I am hoping that if surgery is necessary that will be all that is needed and nothing goes wrong. I am trying to keep my spirits up but the unknown scares me. I haven't been on here in a few weeks (a little pre-occupied) but it hit me that this is the perfect place to vent! I know out of anyone you all will understand so please say a prayer for my Bella. We haven't had her a year yet, and she is barely a year old.....I just need everything to be okay. I am sick with worry for her.....

So, here in Kentucky, we got a ton of snow and ice. The last few days have been crazy. Me and my girls are staying with my dad while my hubby is staying at home. We lost power and he is trying to keep the place warm enough to keep the pipes from freezing by keeping the fire place going! I, on the other hand, miss him tremendously and have been very bored. My work has been closed due to power outages as well, and as much as I love my dad &7 his wife I would love being home more! The girls are okay, though. They hate going outside and the first couple of days with snow were a struggle! Bella, especially, hated going outside and would just stand there and shiver instead of doing her business and getting back in the house! We have a small place cleared in the yard so they don't get engulfed by the snow and we make the outside trips as quick as possible! If only we weren't all going stir crazy! Hoping for electricity soon!!!!
